To use a folding homecare bed, clear all bedding, lower the bed to a flat position, and secure the wheels. Then, disengage any springs, fold the bed frame, and secure it in its folded position with any provided latches or screws. Operation involves using a hand pendant to adjust the head, foot, and overall bed height for patient comfort and to facilitate caregiving. 

Before You Begin

1. Read the manual:

Understand your bed's specific design and features by consulting the manufacturer's user manual. 

2. Clear the bed:

Remove all bedding, pillows, and personal items to prevent them from getting caught in the mechanism. 

3. Secure the wheels:

Lock the wheels to prevent unintended movement during the folding process. 

4. Adjust to a flat position:

Use the hand control to bring the head and foot sections of the bed to their lowest, flat position. 

5. Coil and secure cables:

Ensure all cables are neatly coiled and secured, often with a hook and loop strap, to prevent damage and tripping hazards. 

Folding the Bed

Disengage springs (if applicable): For models with connecting springs between the head and foot sections, carefully release them from their attachment points to avoid strain. 

Fold the frame: Push the center of the bed upwards until the head and foot ends meet. 

Secure the fold: Reinsert and tighten any screws and secure the folded position with the provided latch. 

Operating the Bed (while in use)

1. Use the hand control:

The bed's hand pendant has buttons to raise or lower the head, foot, or both sections of the bed. 

2. Adjust height:

To change the overall height of the bed, use the designated buttons on the control pendant. 

3. Use the backup battery:

In case of a power failure, a battery allows the motor to return the bed's sleep surface to a horizontal position. 

4. Check instructions regularly:

Always refer to the specific instructions provided by the bed's supplier to ensure safe and proper use.
