Camp Cot

A camp cot is a small, lightweight, and portable folding cot or bed designed for temporary use, often outdoors or during travel, providing a sleeping surface elevated from the ground. Common uses include recreational activities like camping, military temporary shelters, emergency situations, and as a safe, transportable sleeping space for infants and toddlers. They consist of a folding frame with a sturdy cloth stretched over it.

Infant/Toddler use: A specific type of "camp cot" or portable crib is used for babies, providing a safe and convenient sleeping space for travel or shorter-term home use.

Comfort: Provides a more comfortable and stable sleeping surface than sleeping directly on the ground. 

Hygiene: Keeps you away from dirt, dampness, and potential insects on the ground. 

Convenience: Easy to set up and take down, making it ideal for quick deployments and travel. 

To use a camp cot, first remove it from its bag, then pull up the sides one by one, ensuring each side clicks into place, and finally, push the base down to fully open and lock the frame. To pack it up, reverse the process, unlatching any straps, folding the frame, and rolling it into the carrying case. 

Setting Up a Camp Cot

Unpack the Cot: Remove the cot from its carrying bag and set aside the end bars if your model has them. 

Lay it Out: Place the cot on the ground, holding it in the middle for stability. 

Open the Legs: Unfold the legs so the cot is flat on the ground. 

Raise the Base: Pull up the four sides of the cot. Make sure to raise the central base first, then pull the other sides. You should hear a click as each side locks into position. 

Secure the Legs: Push down on the base and each leg to ensure they are fully engaged. 

Add Bedding: Place your mattress pad or sleeping bag on top of the cot. 

Packing Up a Camp Cot

Remove Bedding: Take off the mattress or sleeping bag from the cot. 

Unlatch the Sides: Disconnect any buckle straps or clips that are holding the cot together. 

Fold the Frame: Push down on the ends of the cot to collapse it into a smaller, standing box shape. 

Roll and Bag: Roll the folded cot, often along with its mattress, and place it into its storage bag.
